Delta 8 is a minor cannabinoid that naturally occurs in small amounts in hemp. Hemp and cannabis have over 112 confirmed cannabinoids, with new cannabinoids being discovered as research increases, providing us with access to novel cannabinoids besides just CBD and Delta-9 THC, cannabis’ most famous cannabinoid. Delta 8 can also be abbreviated as: D8THC, Δ8THC, Δ8, D8, and D8-THC.
Delta 8 and Delta 9 have a slightly different molecular arrangement, producing slightly different effects. Its importance lies in its ability to provide similar benefits of medical cannabis like alleviating pain, insomnia, anxiety, and promoting relaxation without the paranoia and diminished psychoactive effects associated with Delta-9-THC. This makes Delta 8 the perfect alternative to those seeking medicinal benefits without the inhibiting side effects
Legalities of Delta-8-THC
Perhaps the most common question we receive is about the legalities of Delta 8. Delta 8 was made legal by H.R. 2: The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018, commonly referred to as the 2018 Farm Bill. The bill amended Delta 8’s legality when it made all derivatives, isomers and cannabinoids of hemp legal, so long as it contained less than 0.3% Delta-9-THC.
Prior to the passing of the 2018 bill, Delta 8 and other hemp-derived cannabinoids, were classified as a controlled substance named in the Controlled Substances Act. H.R.2 specifically included text removing all confusion between laws amending the Controlled Substances Act excluding Delta 8 from hemp.
While Delta 8 is federally legal, it still remains illegal in a few states that specifically exclude it and other hemp derived cannabinoids.
As with all cannabinoids, the effects of Delta 8 can vary person to person. The best way to describe the common experience is through a combination of the effects of CBD (calming, centering, anti-inflammatory) and those of Delta 9 THC (uplifting, mood boosting, euphoric), without the paranoia or added anxiety.
With proper dosing, Delta 8 users reported feeling far more functional than with using the Delta-9-THC counterpart. Some negative effects, although rare, can occur, including upset stomach, drowsiness, dry mouth, red eyes, and headache.
The onset times of Delta 8 will vary depending on the method of consumption and the tolerance inherent in each individual. Since the onset effects are typically slightly more delayed than Delta-9-THC effects, we’d recommend that users take D8 products as listed on the packaging to decide what dosage and frequency of use is most beneficial to them. A rule of thumb in all cannabinoid consumption is to start low and add slow. Remember, everybody’s physical and
chemical compositions are unique, and doses should be individualized to take these factors into account!
A typical Delta-8-THC oral dosage is about 10-15mg (for vapes, 1-3 second puffs). We recommend starting with 10mg or less if you’re aware of your cannabinoid sensitivity, and build up your dosage as desired. Potency varies from individual to individual.
How Long Do Delta-8-THC Effects Last?
The length of Delta-8-THC effects will always vary person to person. Vapes can last anywhere from 1-3 hours, with tinctures and edibles lasting anywhere from 2-12 hours. The larger the dose, the longer the effects. Some effects can also be harder to detect, particularly in Delta 8 products, where the traditional “high” is different from Delta-9-THC. Some of the mood boosting effects of Delta 8, for example, can be subtle and difficult to notice.
We at HI On Nature are excited about the benefits and, moreover, access to these benefits that hemp-derived Delta-8-THC provides. We invite you to try the uplifting, stress relieving, anti-inflammatory benefits of Delta-8-THC in whichever way you’re most comfortable. Does Delta 8 Contain THC
Does Delta 8 Contain THC?
If you've been looking into Delta 8 products, you probably have seen a few different names for it: Delta 8, Delta-8, Δ8, D8, Delta-8-THC, Δ8-THC, D8-THC, etc. These are all referring to the same cannabinoid: Delta-8-THC.
Delta 8 is in fact THC; all of the previous listed names are shortened for Delta-8 Tetrahydrocannabinol or Delta-8-THC. Delta 8 is an isomer of Delta-9-THC, the compound commonly known as THC. While Delta 8 and Delta 9 are both forms of THC, Delta 9 is more traditionally known as THC or cannabis. Delta 8 is derived from hemp, whereas Delta 9 is derived from cannabis. In this article, we will refer to Delta-9-THC as cannabis.
What is so great about Delta 8?
Delta 8 is a novel cannabinoid that is rapidly gaining popularity because it is legal and has similar psychological and physiological effects to cannabis. These effects include euphoria, tranquility, relaxation, and other therapeutic properties. Delta 8 is less potent than cannabis and its effects are commonly reported as being similar but more mild. In fact, Delta 8 is becoming more preferred among many who claim it doesn’t bring on the negative effects of cannabis such as anxiety and paranoia.
Furthermore, Delta 8 has been studied as a potential treatment for glaucoma, corneal injury, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. While no major clinical studies have been published on Delta-8-THC so far, it is currently being used in treatment as a component of medical cannabis.

How is Delta 8 Legal?
The 2018 United States Farm Bill made all derivatives of hemp legal. This applies to Delta 8 because it’s manufactured from hemp. Hemp can be legally grown and used for extractions all over the United States. Although Delta-8-THC is a legal alternative to traditional cannabis use, it is quickly gaining mainstream recognition and becoming the fastest growing segment of products derived from hemp.
While Delta-8-THC is federally legal, it still remains illegal in a few states that specifically exclude Delta-8-THC and other hemp derived cannabinoids. We have composed a list of states where it is legal here.
4 Benefits of Delta 8

Those already familiar with the wide variety of cannabinoids and the mental and physical benefits may ask “why Delta 8?” What effects is it known for and how can I incorporate them into my daily routines?
Delta 8 is among the most frequently researched cannabinoids. This includes clinical trials and studies on promising treatments to the following: glaucoma, corneal injury, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. While these studies are recent and need more research to understand the full potential of Delta 8 medicinal benefits, we will focus on our favorite well known therapeutic effects of Delta 8.
Relaxation With Clarity
Delta-8-THC promotes deep relaxation. Delta 8 binds to CB1 receptors in our bodies, which helps our endocannabinoid systems to regulate anxiety and depression. These anxiolytic properties help relieve symptoms of anxiety, leading to a greater sense of calm. Our favorite part about Delta 8’s ability to promote relaxation is that users have reported feeling uplifted, and less drowsy or foggy as they might with some Delta 9 products, or in some instances even CBD products. Users report feeling deeply relaxed while still being able to maintain mental clarity.
Try a moderate dose of Delta 8 before a relaxing but mentally stimulating activities such as exercising, reading, and creative tasks.
Delta 8 is most readily compared to Delta 9 with its euphoric, mood-enhancing properties. In other words, Delta 8 can induce a psychoactive “high” that’s similar to what one might expect from a traditional Delta-9-THC product, but without the paranoia or anxiety that can result. This benefit is perhaps the primary reason for why Delta 8 products have enjoyed a recent rise in popularity.
Try Delta 8 as a substitute for wherever and whenever you may already be consuming Delta 9 - hanging out with friends, crafting, or spending time outdoors.
Delta 8 has proven to be an effective, naturally occurring pain reliever. Because of it’s antiemetic (treats nausea) and analgesic (treats overall pain) properties, Delta 8 has shown to help regulate peripheral and central nervous systems to alleviate pain, particularly inflammatory pain.
Try Delta 8 as a means to treat inflammatory pain like aching joints and muscles. We even recommend trying Delta 8 post-workout.
Potentially Improves Brain Health
Delta-8-THC has strong neuroprotective potential. It works in various ways, including inhibiting adenyl cyclase and regulating potassium and calcium channels in the central nervous system, which promotes greater brain health. Preliminary research suggests it's effects could help treat degenerative mental health conditions.
In conclusion, there are tremendous mental and physical benefits of Delta 8. Used in the proper dosages, Delta 8 can help enhance your well-being and quality of life.

The most standard single dosage seen from suppliers is 25mg. Your dose will be based on your own tolerance. If you are new to Delta 8 or worried about taking too much, we recommend starting with a half dose at about 12.5mg or even a quarter dose at 6.25mg.

Delta-8-THC Vape Cartridges
Vape cartridges can vary by sensation, flavor, and aroma as a result of terpene profiles being introduced. Terpenes are also known to enhance the high and therapeutic sensations through the entourage effect. HI On Nature cartridges are characterized as indica, sativa, and hybrid and each contain 1g of hemp derived Delta-8-THC per cart. The cartridges are blended in-house using the high quality terpenes formulated by our flavor Chemist.
Some of our customers enjoy the sensation of smoking, which allows them to control their dose over an extended period of time. This means they can vape slowly for a more subtle and prolonged experience or simply take more puffs at a time to increase intensity.
Vape Cartridges are the quickest delivery method as well as the easiest to control. Our customers report that 1-3 puffs give you the instant Delta 8 effects that you are looking for. HI On Nature tinctures vary by distinct mouthwatering flavors that capture exactly what they are representing, such as a perfectly ripened mango or your favorite local chai tea latte. Every bottle contains 300 mg of hemp derived Delta-8-THC, with a 30ml serving size.
Tinctures are ideal for someone who is looking for something longer lasting than vaping but doesn’t take as long to kick in as edibles. On average, our customers say they feel the effect in about 15-30 minutes and the duration lasts about 4-8 hours. Things to do while “Hi” on Delta 8
Hi there! Whether you have our products already in hand, are considering purchasing, or are just here to learn more about the beneficial properties of Delta 8 THC, we’re happy you’re here. In addition to questions our team receives around the science behind Delta 8, proper dosing, and sourcing, we also find ourselves having conversations around how to incorporate Delta 8 in our day to day activities. What we love about Delta 8 is its versatility and ability to produce a “hi” without the anxiety, paranoia, or intensity that we often feel with Delta 9. We spoke a little bit about our favorite benefits in a previous article, but wanted to dive deeper into use cases and favorite activities to enjoy- both alone and in company- after consuming D8.
Delta-8 known for stimulating appetites while reducing nausea, and has been studies as a means to treat eating disorders and weight loss. Even if you don’t suffer from these conditions, we love Delta 8 as a way to really savor the foods and beverages we eat. Not only does it increase appetite, but it can heighten senses in different ways for each user. Try stocking up on your favorite snacks, hosting a dinner party with friends (perhaps potluck style, no pun intended), or concocting new recipes while the creative juices are flowing. We never need an excuse to indulge in delicious food, but Delta 8 THC definitely adds fuel to want to.
Indulging in food and working out are not mutually exclusive, but a perhaps less additive activity to engage in with D8 is working out. A 2015 study by Angela Bryan, professor of neuroscience at University of Colorado Boulder, initially sought out to survey cannabis users to conclude if increased cannabis use will take a physical toll on users, leaning in to the “couch potato” stereotype. She instead found that 70% of users said consuming cannabis made them more excited to workout, even citing prolonged performance, particularly in cardiovascular activities like running. Additionally, Delta 8 is known for anti-inflammatory properties, which can help with muscle recovery post workout, making consumption an interesting way to increase enthusiasm and benefits of exercise. Runners hi anyone?
Working or Studying
A positive reaction to Delta 8 is its ability to help users maintain greater mental control and clarity. A “hi” without being completely intoxicated or consumed in the experience, if you will. And many report mental stimulation. Try studying or getting some work done and experiencing what a functional high feels like. A lot of hurdles around working can be a result of anxiety associated with the activity, and perhaps by treating those sentiments we can experience more productive working or studying sessions. While there are no studies that indicate Delta 8 as being a cannabinoid that specifically aids focus, studies show that consuming D8 has neuroprotective properties, and can aid in long term cognition, memory, and neuroplasticity due to its ability to produce acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. We suggest smaller doses of D8 to start and test improved productivity and focus.
Writing or Painting
We had to throw a creative activity in- the euphoria and sensory stimulation induced of Delta 8 is advantageous for creativity and exploration in any form. Consider the creative tasks you enjoy regularly and what the experience is like after consuming Delta 8. Or, if you’re not a typically “artistic” person, think of a few activities you’ve always wanted to try but for whatever reason have yet to. Paint with friends, try tackling a creative writing prompt, give pottery a try, anything to take advantage of those creative juices!
Lastly but certainly not least, D8 is an incredible tool to promote a sense of deep relaxation. With anxiolytic properties that help ease stress and anxiety, Delta 8 is often used before bedtime or anytime throughout the day where a greater sense of calm is needed. We love a few puffs of our Delta 8 THC vape before a bath, watching a movie, or just enjoying the company of friends and family without distractions or tension. Get cozy and enjoy.
